Racism in Transformers
This is a clip from a recent article by Sandy Cohen (The Associated Press).
"Harmless comic characters or racist robots? The buzz over the summer blockbuster "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" only grew Wednesday as some said two jive-talking Chevy characters were racial caricatures. Skids and Mudflap, twin robots disguised as compact hatchbacks, constantly brawl and bicker in rap-inspired street slang. They're forced to acknowledge that they can't read. One has a gold tooth."
I personally don't believe the writers and directors included these chararcters in this film with an intent to be racist. Just because these robots "jive talk" and have bucked or gold teeth doesn't make them black! I believe the true racists are the people who immediately associate these characteristics with the African-American race.

I'd have to say that I agree with your assessment of the article. Why do people automatically make themselves the victim and not the victor?
I personally don't have gold or buck teeth, nor do any of my immediate relatives...or do we engage in "jive talk", well maybe occasionally, but so do some of my white friends.
With all the “jive talk” and jargons being used online, why would it be assumed that it’s an A.A.?
With the blogs, news reporters and especially Twitter….almost everyone talks jive.LOL!!!
